Which input fields are supported?

Jisuan supports standard HTML text fields and web forms in Google Chrome that macOS Accessibility can identify. Web spreadsheets, native office apps and other browsers are outside the current scope. Password, secure, read-only and disabled fields are not written to.

What system and hardware do I need?

Production release 1.1.8 is a universal macOS app for Apple silicon and Intel, requiring macOS 14 or later. Use Google Chrome. The download center shows the requirements for its release channel; local development packages may differ in service environment and architecture. There is no Windows installer.

How do I install or update? Is installation automatic?

Download the DMG, open it and drag Jisuan into Applications. To update, quit Jisuan, replace the old app and reopen it. Downloading does not install the update automatically. Check for updates from the Mac menu bar and verify the version in About. This guide covers templates, constants and finance rules in the current version.

How do I run my first calculation?

Open Jisuan and follow the setup instructions to grant Accessibility permission in System Settings. Enter =12580+3690 in a standard Chrome field, press ⌘⌥=, verify 16,270 and click Insert into current field. The app’s test window helps check Jisuan itself, but does not verify interaction with a real Chrome field.

Why are templates or common finance rules missing?

Check that the running app is the latest package offered in the download center and reopen it. Refresh the account page and create or edit a template under My templates. On the Mac, look for Common finance rules in the Save as template editor. Also check the download page’s release notes; earlier packages may lack newer features.

What expressions can I calculate?

Free supports arithmetic, parentheses, negative numbers, basic numeric units, percentages and calendar-date arithmetic. Try =200*13% or =-(10+2)*3. Pro also recognizes tax splits, Chinese uppercase amounts, ratio calculations and English finance expressions. Calendar-date arithmetic is not a business-day or payment-term calculator.

How do I select, insert or cancel a result?

Results appear as cards; the orange outline marks the selected one. Click a card to preview it, check the amount and formula, then use the Insert button at the bottom. Its label identifies the selected result type. For ordinary calculations, pressing a card’s number inserts that result directly; Return inserts the selected result and Esc cancels. Cancelling leaves the input unchanged. Before insertion, Jisuan checks that the original field remains writable and its content has not changed.

How does Copy details differ from inserting a result?

Copy details places results and calculation details on the clipboard without changing the webpage field. The Insert button at the bottom replaces the original input. Select a result card to choose the format before inserting. Check the webpage field and operation status to confirm success; Copied does not mean Inserted.

How do precision, grouping and percentages work?

Jisuan uses Decimal arithmetic and rounds output to the selected precision; rounding can still occur. Account preferences set ordinary calculation defaults. Templates have independent precision from 0 to 6 decimal places and grouping. In a percentage field, enter 20 for 20%, not 0.2 or text containing a % symbol.

Will the entire field be replaced?

With a selection, check that the candidates refer to the selected expression. Without a selection, the input parser identifies the calculable segment. Review the input and result before inserting. Unknown sources, changed targets or non-writable fields are rejected; copying is never presented as successful insertion.

How do I create and use a custom template?

In My templates in the account center, choose New template. Name it, add fields and a formula, or apply a common finance rule, then review output settings and save. In a standard Chrome field, press ⌘⌥=, open Templates, select a template, fill in its parameters and review the result before inserting.

Can I call a template from an empty field?

Yes. Press ⌘⌥= in a writable, empty standard Chrome text field to open the template list. The ordinary calculation panel also has a Templates entry. Use Back to calculation when you want to return.

Why does Save as template already contain a formula and parameters?

Save as template converts each number in the current arithmetic expression into a separate parameter and preserves operators and parentheses. The count comes from the expression, not a fixed set of three. Original numbers do not automatically become defaults. Name the parameters and review the formula. New template on the web starts blank.

What can I edit on the web and Mac?

Both editors support names, formulas, adding/removing/reordering fields, amount/number/percentage types, units, hints, value sources, defaults or constant references, locking, bounds, an exclusive maximum, integers-only rules, output precision and grouping. Parameters collapse; the Mac editor scrolls internally at a fixed height. Each template supports up to 8 fields.

How do I compose a formula? Can parameters be adjacent?

Click a parameter to insert it at the cursor, then use +, −, ×, ÷ and parentheses, or type numbers. Parameters need an operator between them: {Unit price}×{Quantity} is valid; {Unit price}{Quantity} is not. Every field must be used. Fix missing operators, unknown field references or incomplete parentheses before saving.

How do entered values, defaults and constants differ?

Enter each time stores no initial value. A default is prefilled when called and can be changed according to its lock setting. A personal constant references a record in the same account’s library. Saved defaults and constants sync to the account service; distinguish them from sensitive values intended only for the current calculation.

How do locks, bounds and integers-only work?

Defaults and constants can be locked on invocation; unlocking affects only the current calculation. Minimum bounds are inclusive. Maximum bounds can be exclusive, such as a margin below 100. Integers-only rejects fractional values. Units are display labels and do not automatically convert currencies or measurement units.

How are templates sorted, and does the window grow?

Templates are ordered by most recently updated first and can be searched by name. The Mac list stays at a fixed size and scrolls internally. Fewer search results do not resize the window based on the number of items.

How do I use a common finance rule?

Open the Common finance rules picker in the web template editor or the Mac Save as template editor. Search names, descriptions or fields with Chinese or English keywords, such as margin; the list shows the match count. Select a rule, review its description and click Apply rule. Applying replaces the name, formula, fields and output settings, with confirmation before replacing existing content. Neither selection nor application saves the template automatically; review it before saving.

Which common finance rules are included?

The current catalog contains 32 rules covering tax-inclusive and tax-exclusive amounts, gross and net profit, pricing, growth and completion rates, discounts and commission, simple interest, currency conversion, quantities and amounts, outstanding balances and allocation, weighted costs, break-even quantities, depreciation, current and quick ratios, debt-to-assets ratio, return on equity, inventory days and receivable days. Search the picker and check its count for the available catalog. These are editable calculation presets; review the assumptions and parameters for your use case.

Do rules prefill tax rates, exchange rates or sample amounts?

No. Supply tax and exchange rates yourself; examples are not business defaults. Tax splits assume one tax rate. Exchange rates mean target-currency units per 1 source-currency unit. Simple interest outputs interest only, excluding principal, compounding and repayment schedules. Live quotes, jurisdiction-specific tax rules, income tax and loan amortization are not provided.

How do margin, markup and discount rates differ?

Gross margin divides by sales revenue; markup is based on cost. Do not substitute one for the other. Enter 20 for a 20% discount, leaving 80% payable. Margin, growth and completion rules output percentage numbers: 40 means 40%, without automatically appending %. Keep periods, currencies and tax bases consistent.

Are web and Mac rules consistent? Will updates change my templates?

Both clients read the same rule catalog, and the Mac includes a local copy for offline use. Names, descriptions and fields match across Chinese and English. Catalog updates do not rewrite saved templates. Reapply, review and save when you want a change. Rules themselves do not use your template quota; saving a generated template does.

What should I store as a personal constant?

Store frequently reused values such as an hourly rate or items per carton under Personal constants in the account center. Set a name, type, value, unit and note. Enter 20 for a 20% constant. Constants are explicitly referenced by templates; they do not automatically replace matching words in ordinary expressions.

How does a template reference a constant?

Choose Use personal constant in the formula tools to reuse or add a corresponding field, or select a constant as a field’s value source. The reference carries the constant’s type and unit. When calling the template, review actual values and update times and confirm them before calculating.

What happens when I change or delete a constant?

A changed constant affects later template calls after the data is reloaded. Active calculations keep their selected snapshot instead of silently replacing values. Unlocking and changing a value for one calculation does not update the constant library. Remove template references before deleting a referenced constant.

Will templates update without clicking Sync?

Each time the Mac template workspace opens, it reads the local cache and attempts a refresh from the account service. Clicking Sync is not required on every opening. An open workspace does not receive continuous push updates; after a web save, click Sync or reopen it. Reselect a template to use refreshed data; an active calculation keeps its snapshot.

Can I use Jisuan offline?

Ordinary calculations run locally. If you are signed in and a template cache exists on this Mac, cached templates remain available after a network failure. New, never-synced templates and constants cannot be fetched offline. Initial sign-in, web management and saving through sync require a connection. Review constants offline and sync after reconnecting.

What if saving fails, conflicts occur or changes do not appear?

Check the connection, signed-in account and quota. Concurrent edits can cause a revision conflict. Keep a copy of needed edits, reload the latest data and edit again instead of repeatedly overwriting. Save web changes first, then sync and reselect the template on the Mac. Temporary calculation parameters do not sync to the web.

Where can I view and search history?

Choose Calculation History from the Mac menu bar. Free shows the latest 10 entries. Pro can view all retained entries and filter by keyword, time, type and status, with counts and batched display. The website has no calculation-history list, and local history does not sync across devices.

Which actions save history?

With history enabled, choosing a candidate for insertion records the operation. Successful Copy details actions in the candidate panel also record copied candidates, up to four. Calculating, viewing or cancelling alone does not save history. Copying an existing history entry creates no duplicate. The local file write must also succeed.

Why is history missing, Copied only or Unconfirmed?

Check that history is enabled, that you selected a candidate or copied details, and that no save error appeared. Inserted, copied only, unconfirmed and failed are distinct states; do not assume the webpage changed. Unsaved operations are not added later. Template history retains the template, constants and parameter snapshot from that calculation; later edits do not rewrite it.

Can I disable, delete or clear history?

Disable history in account preferences; once the Mac syncs preferences, new entries stop without deleting old ones. Delete individual entries or clear history in the history window. Clearing cannot be undone. Up to 5,000 recent entries are retained locally, removing the oldest above that limit. Free displays 10; downgrading does not delete the other retained entries.

What local content does Jisuan read?

It reads the current field when you invoke calculation, not the full page body. With history enabled, a record may contain the complete field text, candidates, source information, settings and template snapshots, including text around the expression. Local history strips URL query strings and fragments.

Which data syncs, and which stays local?

Calculation inputs, results, page content and history stay on your Mac. The account service syncs accounts, plans, preferences and template names, formulas, defaults and personal constants that you explicitly save. Templates calculate locally; the rule API does not receive current parameters or results. Saving defaults or constants explicitly syncs those values.

Do templates require sign-in? Where do I manage my account?

Templates and constants belong to your account, so management and sync require sign-in. Use an available sign-in method on the login page. Open the account center from Jisuan’s menu to manage your account, templates, constants, preferences, plan and security information.

Can I sign in on more than one computer at a time?

One account can be signed in to one Jisuan client at a time. Completing client sign-in on a new computer invalidates the previous client session. When the old computer checks online, it signs out and displays “This account signed in on another device. Please sign in again.” The client checks at startup, when returning to the foreground, and about every 60 seconds while running. Signing in to the website account center does not occupy the client slot. Cancelling or not completing a new client sign-in does not replace the previous client, and signing out of the old client does not sign out the new one.

Does an offline computer sign out immediately?

No. An offline device cannot immediately learn that the account signed in elsewhere. Existing local caches remain available under the offline rules. Once the device reconnects and detects an invalid session, it signs out and stops account synchronization. Ordinary local calculations remain available. This rule applies to client sign-in and does not sync calculation history to other computers.

What features and template limits do Free and Pro include?

Free includes ordinary arithmetic, basic units, formatting, percentages, dates, the latest 10 history entries, up to 5 templates and 10 constants. Pro adds finance-expression recognition, regional formats and full local history, with up to 50 templates and 100 constants. Both plans can create templates from common rules, with up to 8 fields per template. Check the plan page for current entitlements.

What happens at the quota or after Pro expires?

Creating or duplicating templates and constants uses quota. The page warns at the limit, and the server rejects excess additions. Delete unused records or upgrade to add more. A downgrade does not automatically delete existing over-quota records; they remain readable, callable, editable and deletable. Bring the count below the limit before adding more; replacing IDs does not bypass it.

Where do I set language, region, currency and formatting?

Use Preferences in the account center to set language, financial region, currency, decimal places, grouping, history and the default candidate. Save and let the client sync. Chinese and English offer the same features; changing the UI language does not translate your own template or constant names. Templates have independent precision and grouping settings. The client starts in English by default. After sign-in, it uses the account’s saved interface language, including an existing Chinese preference. Accounts without a saved language preference default to English.

How do I purchase one year of Pro?

Sign in to the Jisuan account you want to use for Pro, open the plans page in your account center, and select the purchase button to check out with Creem. Review your account, access period and amount before paying. Pro is linked to the Jisuan account used for the purchase, with one year of access for a one-time payment.

Which payment methods are available, and is tax included?

Payments are securely processed by Creem. Available payment methods, currency and the final amount are shown at checkout. Any applicable taxes are shown and calculated there. Review the total before completing your payment.

How do I renew Pro? Will I be charged automatically?

Pro is a one-time payment for one year, with no automatic renewal or automatic charges. Renew while Pro is active to add a year to your current expiry date. If it has expired, a new year begins on the payment date. Before renewing, make sure you are signed in to the same Jisuan account used for your original purchase.

How do I check that Pro is active after paying?

After paying, return to your account center and check your Pro status and expiry date on the plans page. If payment confirmation is pending, allow a moment for the page to check automatically, then refresh later if needed. On your Mac, use the same Jisuan account and stay online so your plan status can sync.

What if payment fails, I cancel checkout, or I am charged without getting Pro?

If payment was not completed, return to the plans page to try again. If you have already been charged but Pro is not active, check your plan status before paying again. If the issue continues, use “Contact support” at the bottom of this page and include your order reference, payment time and a description of the issue.

How do I report a duplicate charge or request a refund?

Use “Contact support” at the bottom of this page and include your order reference and a description of the issue. Refund requests are reviewed under our Terms of Service, and approved refunds are processed through Creem. Pro does not renew automatically, so there is no recurring charge to cancel. Stopping use does not automatically issue a refund. Do not send passwords or full payment-card details.

What if the shortcut does nothing or the panel is misplaced?

Check that Jisuan is running, Accessibility permission is valid and a writable standard Chrome field is focused. Refocus the field and invoke again. After replacing the app, quit and reopen it. Avoid running old copies from different locations. A successful app test-window calculation does not establish that Chrome permissions or the target field work.

Why is there no result, or why is Save unavailable?

Check names, that every field appears in the formula, and that defaults satisfy bounds. Fill all parameters and confirm referenced constants. Enter numbers without units or %, with up to 6 decimal places. Zero divisors, a 100% target margin and out-of-range discounts are rejected. Errors do not write back; correct the input and preview again.

What should I include in a support request?

Include Jisuan, macOS and Chrome versions, UI language, reproduction steps, expected behavior and error messages. Use non-sensitive examples and screenshots. Do not send passwords, sign-in tokens, real financial data or complete history files. Contact support using the link below.

How do I keep the calculation panel visible?

Click the pin at the top right to keep the current calculation visible while viewing other pages or switching apps. Drag the panel to reposition it. Click the pin again to unpin it, or use the close button at the top right to dismiss it. Pinning does not automatically read new content or insert anything.

How do I insert a result after switching apps with the panel pinned?

Return to the original Chrome page, then click the Insert button in the panel. The result is retained, but insertion still targets the original field. If that field was removed, made read-only or edited, invoke the shortcut again in the intended field. Clicking the panel while another app is in front does not insert the result into that app.

How do I calculate new numbers with the panel pinned?

Edit the expression in the webpage field, or move to another field you want to calculate, then press ⌘⌥=. The new result updates the same panel. There is no expression editor in the panel. Switching pages to consult information does not read new content or overwrite the result. Clicking a result card only changes the preview; insertion requires confirmation.

What does the Free or Pro badge beside the panel title mean?

It shows the current account plan, synchronized with the account service. The badge is localized for Chinese and English; it is not a price label for the current formula. Plan changes appear after account synchronization. While offline, the badge may temporarily show the most recently retrieved status.
