Using Jisuan Private Ledger From calculation to local records

Enable Private Ledger, save calculation results, organize income and expenses, and protect your records with a separate passphrase, Touch ID and encrypted backups.

This guide covers the local Private Ledger in Jisuan 1.3.0. Save a selected numeric calculation result as an income or expense entry. Saving an entry and writing a result into a web field are separate actions. The ledger is encrypted on this Mac and separate from calculation history. This version has no cloud sync.

Enable Private Ledger

Sign in to Account, enable Private Ledger in Preferences, and enable its entry point in the candidate panel. Back in the Mac app, the panel shows Add to ledger. Private Ledger: unlimited local USD entries, categories and built-in encryption (1.3.0) Private Ledger: multiple currencies, independent passphrase management, Touch ID, encrypted backup and recovery, and CSV export (1.3.0)

Create your encrypted ledger

Free: This ledger remains encrypted. Its access credential is protected by this Mac’s Keychain. Pro: Before the first save, set a separate unlock passphrase with at least 12 characters. This is not your account password. Store the generated recovery key safely and confirm the complete key as requested. Do not enter your passphrase in the recovery confirmation field. Keep both credentials somewhere safe; support cannot recover them for you.

Record a selected result

Enter an expression in a supported standard Chrome web input and press ⌘⌥= to open the candidates. Select the numeric result you want to record, then choose Add to ledger. Review the income or expense type, amount, currency, date, category and note before saving. Saving the expression and source is optional. After returning to the candidates, confirm Insert separately if you want to fill the web field. Recording an entry alone does not create calculation history.

Review and organize entries

Open Private Ledger from the Jisuan menu. Filter by month, currency, income or expense, and category; search notes or categories and star useful entries. Amounts can be concealed until you choose Show amounts. Category management groups income and expense categories. Toggle preset categories or add and edit custom ones. Check entries before deleting them; deleting a category leaves its associated entries uncategorized.

Locking and Touch ID

Independent passphrase management, Touch ID, backup and recovery, and CSV export require Pro. Lock manually when leaving or configure idle auto-lock in Preferences. Privacy concealment when switching apps does not delete data. In Security, change the separate passphrase or enable Touch ID on a supported Mac. Enrollment is complete only when the interface confirms it is enabled. If fingerprint authentication is unavailable or cancelled, use your passphrase or recovery key.

Encrypted backup and restore

Independent passphrase management, Touch ID, backup and recovery, and CSV export require Pro. Export a backup from Encrypted backup. Before changing Macs, make sure you have the backup, passphrase and recovery key. To restore, select the backup, verify its credential, then confirm replacement. An encrypted copy of the current ledger is retained, and Touch ID must be enabled again after restoration. CSV exports are unencrypted plain text and need careful handling. Deleting the local ledger does not delete existing backup files.
