Jisuan Private Ledger encrypted cloud backup guide

Use real app screenshots to learn about ledger passphrases, recovery keys, Pro cloud backup and restoration, and privacy protections for storage in Hong Kong, China.

Jisuan 1.3.1 Pro supports encrypted cloud backups. You can manually upload an encrypted ledger copy to Tencent Cloud COS in Hong Kong, China, view the three latest backups with their times and app versions, and download and validate a backup before restoring it. Passphrases and recovery keys are not uploaded; keep them safe. Cloud backups do not automatically sync or merge ledgers. This feature is not included in Free.

Unlocking and recovery keys

Open Private Ledger and unlock it with its independent passphrase. If you forget it, select Use recovery key and enter the complete key saved when you created the ledger. Your account password is not your ledger passphrase.

After unlocking, choose encrypted cloud backup and wait for confirmation. Refresh the backup list and check the time and app version. To restore, download and validate a copy, then select the file through Restore backup. Download validation alone does not restore the ledger.

Privacy and storage location

Private Ledgers are encrypted on your Mac and kept separate from calculation history. Only when you initiate a Pro cloud backup is an encrypted copy sent over HTTPS to Tencent Cloud COS in Hong Kong, China, with server-side encryption enabled. Plaintext entries, ledger passphrases and recovery keys are not uploaded. The server isolates backups by account and processes object identifiers, backup times, app versions, file sizes and integrity checks. Showing only the three latest backups does not mean older backups are automatically deleted; contact support to request deletion. Excel exports are local unencrypted files and are not protected by the ledger lock.

Free and Pro

Free supports unlimited local USD entries, income and expenses, categories, notes, stars, filters and built-in encryption. Its access credential is protected by this Mac's Keychain. Pro also supports multiple currencies, independent passphrase management, Touch ID on supported Macs, encrypted backup and recovery, and Excel (.xlsx) export. After Pro expires, existing entries remain accessible and an existing passphrase or recovery key can still unlock the current ledger; new entries are limited to USD and Pro-only tools are unavailable.
